Jispa – a place in the lap of nature

Jispa is a beautiful village in Lahaul district of Indian state of Himachal Pradesh along Bhaga river. It is located on the way at Manali-Leh highway. It roars standing at a height of 10,500 feet above sea level. Usually this place is for the travelers to breakdown their journey and stay for a night long, this little and calm village gives habitat to only 78 households which make people feel relaxed and help them to escape from the noisy crowded city life.

Jispa is decorated with many unique features such as it own a helipad, a monastery, a small folk museum and a campground. It is not only a resting spot but also a destination in itself, we suggest you to pay a visit to Jispa and stay at night to listen to the struggling silver water of Bhaga river, waking up with the songs of birds and facing the long row to mountains as you open your eyes.

The campsite provides comfortable staying and waterproof tents with electricity service, Hotel Ibex and Padma Lodge are the best hotels in Jispa. The folk museum of Jispa is must to visit, it reminds us of their history and the life of people who belonged to Tod Valley of Lahaul district.

Jispa holds a local market which can provide you really good handicraft items made by the women of the town, you can buy one of those beautiful items at reasonable price. You can even visit the monastery, you will be spellbound by the serene environment.

Riders who aims to reach directly to Leh  instead of stopping at Sarchu prefer to stay at Jispa instead of keylong. Read this Ladakh motorbike tour guide for first timers.
