While Khardung La gets more fame, Chang La is quieter and offers equally stunning views. It is perfect for riders and road trippers seeking a peaceful stop.

Gateway to Pangong Tso

Every journey to Pangong Lake from Leh goes through Chang La. It’s the high point of this route and offers a chance to stop, stretch and take in the views.

Military Outpost & Cafe

The pass is maintained by the Indian Army, and there’s usually a small army-run tea stall offering low-cost tea. A warm cup at that altitude? Unforgettable.

Snow Even in Summer

Due to its height, you’ll often find snow at Chang La even in June or July. Visitors love the chance to touch fresh snow in the middle of summer.
